Maharaja Agrasen and the Agarwal Community, Agroha: The Concept of One Rupee and One Brick
Maharaja Agrasen was a renowned ancient king who established the Vaishya community. He was a brave, compassionate, and highly sensitive ruler towards his subjects. His capital was Agroha, located in the present-day state of Haryana. Maharaja Agrasen based his governance on principles of justice and equality.
He introduced a unique concept of “One Rupee and One Brick.” The main purpose of this concept was to promote cooperation and unity within the society. When a new person or family settled in Agroha, each family in the community would contribute one rupee and one brick. This way, the new family received financial and material support, helping them to easily start their livelihood and integrate into the community.
This system strengthened the spirit of social equality, mutual cooperation, and brotherhood. Even today, this concept is regarded as a cultural heritage within the Agarwal community and symbolizes unity and cooperation. The life and principles of Maharaja Agrasen continue to serve as an inspiration to millions of people.
